About the event

You can register for this session independently of the Yoga History and Philosophy Part-1 Workshop.

Workshop presented by Megan Adamson Sijapati, PhD, Professor of Religious Studies - Gettysburg College,

and RYT-200. Read Megan's bio here.

In this session we dive deeper into the concepts, theories, and questions raised in session one. We take a closer look at the texts introduced in session one to develop a deeper understanding of the foundations of modern yoga. Attention is given to key religious and philosophical concepts that students can integrate into their lives to enhance both their understanding of yoga and to deepen their yoga as practitioners and teachers. Students are also introduced to key points of cultural sensitivity and tools for inter-cultural awareness surrounding yoga. We use what we learned in session one to consider how awareness of the history and philosophy can enhance our practice, our teaching, and our lives off the mat and in the world. A list of suggested further readings is provided at the conclusion of the session.
